18 June 2004

The Sector Based Scheme hospitality quota for citizens of Bangladesh has now been reached.

The quota as announced on 15 June 2004 means that no single nationality can have more than 20% of the total number of SBS work permits issued in any given sector. No applications received after 21 June 2004 to employ Bangladesh citizens can be processed and any applications received after this date will be returned together with the application fee.

The suspension of the hospitality quota for Bangladesh citizens will not have any affect on other nationalities applying under the sector based scheme in the hospitality sector. It will also not affect the quota in the Sector Based Scheme Food Manufacturing Sector.
